[edit] Hacklab: 24 hours hacklab (/night hacklab)
[edit] dc10
urbec/dc10:
Main Hacklabs closed early in the night (forgot time)
Secondary place was in the students accomodations' rooms and
at common space in the Furnald students' housing.
There was no such common space, in the other housing building, Carman.

[edit] dc12
urbec/dc12:
Main hacklab was open until last person left.
There was network at the hotel, so that could be used as a secondary area.
[edit] dc13
urbec/dc13:
All hacklabs where accessable 24/7
[edit] dc14
"The main venue building closed at 10pm. For after-hours social hacking, the spaces on the second floor of both the Broadway and the Ondine residence halls are available for our use. All attendees are welcome to use these "night hacklabs", but per university policy, the front doors of these buildings lock at 8pm and only those staying on campus will have keyed access to them. If you are not staying in the dorms, buddy up with someone who is in order to get access." (Night Hacklab at DC14

[edit] dc11
urbec/dc11:
Two hacklabs, one at groundfloor, the other upsteirs, non accessible for wheelchairs.
The upper was the bigger one and also the only with air conditioning.
The lower would not haven been sufficient to hold all people,
and when considering both, it was still quite packed.

[edit] Hacklab: Security and safety
[edit] dc10
urbec/dc10:
We where obliged to pay for a security person behind the entrance to the building (and also for security in the building containing the talk rooms, but don't remember exactly)
Also in order to keep second hacklab open, we had to man a front desk for access control.
Accomodation (students housing) was permanently manned by a campus security person,
an access was only given to people sleeping there or people accompanying them
[edit] dc11
[edit] dc12
urbec/dc12:
By policy, Venue was not accessible to the general public,
only people with ID (eg debconf badge, university ID)
There where gate keepers at the entrances, but no strict ID checking outside the main entrance,
(which was rarely used to enter venue for debconf)
Last person leaving the hacklab was responsible to get it locked by campus security,
people where advised not to leave their laptops in hacklab overnight
and not to walk alone. - Both happened, no issues, but a half hearted (an unsuccessful) "mugging attempt" on the way from hotel to the venue.
After debconf has ended, all laptops still in hacklab where collected and could be reclaimed at front desk.
