[edit] Room information

[edit] dc14

Attendees had the option to stay in the dorms of PSU campus housing. We were using two dorms: The Ondine and The Broadway.

The rooms on the Broadway had two single beds with a private full bath, two burner kitchenette, and a mini-fridge. The rooms used on the Ondine had room with two single beds including a full kitchen and a bathroom shared with another room.

The large majority of the attendees were hosted in the Broadway with some rooms in the Ondine used for families with children who needed to sleep in a bed. Cots weren't provided by PSU.

Most of the attendees were staying in a double room and it was easy to give single rooms to those who requested it.

Both dorms were around 250-300 meters away from the building where the talks and the day hacklabs were hosted. The second floor of Broadway also served as night hacklab.

[edit] room allocation

[edit] dc14

Room allocation for dc14 was fairly easy since we could almost consider that we had an infinite supply of double rooms. So pairing all the attendees to share room didn't require a lot of effort. All the rooms were identical, so the only information to give to PSU was who was sharing a room or if the room was single, if the room should be placed in the Ondine (for families) and if it should be an accessible room.

The room allocation for self-paying attendees was done automatically for PSU, and there were given directly a single room. The only "challenge" presented was when a self-paying attendee wanted to share room with a sponsored attendee. In this case, we had to notify those cases explicitly to PSU.

For families with small children, PSU could not provide cots.
