[edit] LAN Problems
[edit] Redirections to the local mirror
ftp.XX.debian.org access are redirected to the local mirror, which does not contains some architectures (like the kfreebsd-i386 one). This is problematic for working on GNU/kFreeBSD during debconf. (aurel32).
[edit] WLAN Problems
Please provide as much information as you can. If this is a problem with the wireless, please indicate your location in the building and which AP you were associated to.
[edit] Accommodation at Munoz Torrero
[edit] Accommodation Room 67
EddyP has some problems in room 67, where he is getting a weak signal from the AP in room 1. This seems probably a very local problem due to the concrete and metal in between him and the AP, and I'm not sure there is much that can be done to resolve it. Karora 11:42, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Accommodation Room 63
Sledge is also having problems in room 63. It seems likely that the balcony railing is the main culprit and that we shall need to add another AP to the accommodation area. Karora 08:36, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Resolution
An additional access point is now cabled through to a location under the BoF room, and coverage in these areas should now be much better. Karora 10:56, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
[edit] In the Hacklabs
Unfortunately it seems that Debconf is significantly more wireless than in previous years, and the density of laptops in the hacklabs is so great that there are inevitable problems. If possible find a cable and use a switch :-(
Please do not watch video streams over wireless - think of the kittens!
Raising the density of access points is not expected to improve the situation, but if there is someone at DebConf who is a real wifi guru then please come and explain your proposed solution to us. We do have more access points, but they are b/g only. We have tuned the power levels and channel settings on the existing APs. Karora 15:15, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
