DebConf14/DayTrip/HistoryandNatureVisit
The DebConf14 local team is proud to present a nature and history filled DayTrip with a not-as-intense-hike option for those who still want to visit the Columbia River Gorge's waterfalls, but will not participate in a 3 hour 7.7 km, 470m elevation hike.
The bus groups will leave from Portland State University at 9:30 am, and each group will get time at all 3 of our Gorge locations: Multnomah Falls, Vista House and Rooster Rock State Park for recreation and a picnic lunch.
The Multnomah Falls visit will be 2 hours, allowing for a full view of the popular Multnomah Falls, a visit to their gift shop or lodge (or both!), a trip up to the fall's bridge, time to spend in the educational center, or some time to wander one of the shorter trails nearby.
The visit to Vista House will allow an hour to look over the Columbia River Gorge, read through the history of Oregon, the Oregon Trail and the Historic Highway, and visit the Vista House's gift shop.
Rooster Rock State Park will be our meeting place for lunch. All groups will meet up, the time staggered based on group, but everyone will have a full 2 hours to eat, swim, hike, play frisbee golf, soccer, lounge or just meander.
To adequately ensure we have the right count for lunches and for bus seats, we need to know exact headcounts for the trip. If you have already marked yourself as attending the Daytrip in Summit (as of 18 August), we know who you are. If you have anyone accompanying you that is not in Summit, we do not need to know their names, but we *do* need to know how many to expect.
Below, please note your Summit registration name and how many (besides you) we should expect for the daytrip.
